Spring 2025 Breeding Update

We had a strong and encouraging spring breeding season here at Deluisio Angus.

Our recipient cows achieved a 80% embryo take rate, which we’re truly thankful for. That kind of success comes from consistent care, good timing, and a bit of luck — and we don’t take it for granted.

Our A.I. plan was set going into the season. Every cow had been matched to a sire based on our goals. But then I saw a bull that stopped me in my tracks.

At the time, I didn’t know his name or anything about his numbers. I just knew he stood out — balanced, powerful, and calm. He had a presence that stayed with me. That night, I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Later, I found out who he was: Connealy Total Package.

Once I saw his EPDs and pedigree, it all made sense. We quickly adjusted our plan and bred a group of cows to him — especially those where we wanted more performance without giving up temperament.

We also used Beal Breakthrough on females where maternal quality with performance was the goal. His sons were standouts at the PA Bull Test, and his daughters continue to impress us.

239L is a standout heifer that was recently brought onboard.

One of the highlights in the pasture this year has been 239L, a Sitz Dignity 599J daughter. She’s been catching our eye with her strong structure, balance, and powerful front end — the kind of phenotype we mean when we talk about front pasture cattle. If she continues to develop and calves well this fall, we may consider promoting her to the donor pen.

This spring felt like a step forward. We’re continuing to build cattle that are easy to work with, stand out in the pasture, and represent the type of Angus we’re proud to stand behind.

Thanks for following along.
